Bissinger revisits Friday Night Lights

Buzz Bissinger '76, who has just released a follow-up to his iconic tale of high school football in small-town Texas, Friday Night Lights, will make several upcoming appearances in Philadelphia. Twenty-two years after the original, the After Friday Night Lights sequel was released as an online-only ebook short.

Bissinger, a former DP Sports Editor and Editorial Page Chairman, will discuss his books May 10 at a fundraising event for Spells Writing Lab at Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Center City. The non-profit aims to develop the creative and expository writing skills of school-age children through free, fun, and imaginative writing programs and teacher development opportunities. For more information on the event, click here.

Bissinger's new, very personal memoir, Father's Day: A Journey into the Mind and Heart of My Extraordinary Son, will be released May 15. (An except was published in this week's Newsweek.) He will appear at a free event at the Philadelphia Free Library on May 16 to talk about the book. For more information on the event, click here. Bissinger will then embark on a short tour of appearances and book signings around the country.
